You Can Make Your Pixel 7 Fingerprint Scanner Faster Using Your Nose, Forehead, or Your Scalp

When looking at in-display fingerprint sensors, you normally get access to two different types. You have the cheaper and simpler optical fingerprint sensors, and you get the more advanced and expensive ultrasonic fingerprint sensors. The Google Pixel 7 uses the former, for some reason, and therefore, you often see that the fingerprint scanner actually fails to recognize your finger. But now, a Reddit user has discovered a rather strange and, honestly, a bit icky way to make the fingerprint scanner faster.
The Pixel 7 fingerprint scanner works best if you moisturize your hands, and touching your nose is not what we would suggest for moisturizing
A Reddit user No-Fondant-8757   shared how his fingerprint scanners never really worked if the fingers were clean and dry. They also pointed out that if you have just washed your hands, showered, or gone for a swim, there will be inaccuracies, and the fingerprint scanner will just fail to actually unlock your Pixel 7.
However, the Redditor mentioned that if they would rub their finger on the side of their nose before scanning, the fingerprint scanner would actually become more reliable. Although it might sound like an isolated instance, a lot of other people started talking about it in the threat, and some even mentioned that touching their forehead and even their scalp helps make the fingerprint scanner faster, and some even advised that you should enroll the same finger twice, once when the finger is wet and then with a dry finger.
Now, it might not make sense to a lot of people but optical fingerprint scanners work by shining a light on your fingerprint, and then matching that with the fingerprint that you have enrolled. However, with optical-based fingerprint sensors, the results can be a hit and miss if you have dry fingers mainly beacuse your fingerprints become a bit more rigid, resulting in conflicting results. Thankfully, ultrasonic fingerprint sensors do not suffer from such issues and they are mostly found in higher-end smartphones. Samsung has exclusively been using these sensors for the Galaxy S lineup, and I have neve really had any issues with the recognition on my Galaxy S22 Ultra , or previous phones that i have used.
Surprisingly, Google has mentioned in the past that dry fingers will result in the fingerprint scanner not properly recognizing the prints, so I would highly suggest that you moisturize your hands and the fingerprint scanner should work just fine.
