Dimensity 9300 Rumored To Launch Before Snapdragon 8 Gen 3, Giving MediaTek A Slight Advantage In The Flagship SoC Race

MediaTek and Qualcomm will reportedly unveil their top-tier smartphone chipsets much earlier this year as compared to 2022, but the Taiwanese firm may have an edge with its Dimensity 9300, as the latter is rumored to launch before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
Dimensity 9300 launch said to take place in October, but dates have not been confirmed
Qualcomm recently put out an announcement saying that its Snapdragon Summit will happen in late October , possibly because it wants its Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 to be out in the open as quickly as possible. However, as Digital chatter writes on Weibo, the Dimensity 9300 might be a few days ahead of its closest competitor when it comes to an official launch, though the tipster has not mentioned the dates.
Now that we know that the Snapdragon Summit will kick off on October 24, this official timeline suggests that MediaTek will host its Dimensity 9300 launch event earlier. Even if MediaTek has this lead, the announcement should only play a small part in deciding which company will have a larger market share in the Android flagship smartphone SoC space. Previously, the Dimensity 9000 was unveiled before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 1, but the former went into mass production a little later, giving Qualcomm the clear lead.
On this occasion, both the Dimensity 9300 and Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 are rumored to be mass produced on TSMC’s more advanced 4nm N4P process, so whoever gets the initial shipments will gain a foothold in the market. However, even if MediaTek gets its batch first through some hidden deal with TSMC, we cannot ignore Qualcomm’s own reputation as a company, as notable brands like Samsung will likely covet the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3.
New rumor from tipster claims that the Dimensity 9300 will launch before the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3
As for the Dimensity 9300, it too will probably have a large clientele, but none of them share the global presence of Samsung. Then again, the Dimensity 9300 may get the better of the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3 in the performance department, signaling major phone brands to re-evaluate their partnership with Qualcomm. MediaTek is said to be testing a ‘4 + 4’ configuration that includes four high-performance Cortex-X4 cores . On the other end, Qualcomm may only bring one Cortex-X4 to the Snapdragon 8 Gen 3’s CPU cluster, so when comparing the paper specifications, MediaTek’s offering has secured first place.
However, it is not prudent to jump to conclusions this early, as rumored specifications only tell a quarter of the story, while the rest of the tale is to be narrated by future benchmark leaks, performance figures, and power efficiency metrics. That said, we will await future updates and keep our fingers crossed for both announcements.
