Photoshop Has Become A Lot More Powerful Thanks To Brand New Generative AI Features Using Adobe’s Firefly

Photographers and photo-editing enthusiasts can rejoice as Adobe has just introduced a host of AI features to Photoshop to improve your overall experience. Thanks to a new feature called Generative Fill, and for those wondering, Adobe has mentioned how this new technology happens to be the "world’s first co-pilot in creative and design workflows." It is also worth noting that this makes Photoshop the first Creative Cloud product to bring this technology. Still, I am looking forward to testing this feature out and, more importantly, having a look at it in other tools such as Lightroom, a software that I use all the time.
Generative Fill is a magical tool for Adobe Photoshop that can take your images to the next level
Photoshop is definitely the first product to get generative AI capabilities, but in the press release, the company has mentioned how AI-powered features will expand to other tools such as Creative Cloud, Document Cloud, Experience Cloud, as well as Adobe Express. Generative Fill is only available in beta at the time of writing, but Adobe has plans to release it to the general public later this year.
This is what an excerpt from the official press release says about the company's work in AI:
“By integrating Firefly directly into workflows as a creative co-pilot, Adobe is accelerating ideation, exploration and production for all of our customers. Generative Fill combines the speed and ease of generative AI with the power and precision of Photoshop, empowering customers to bring their visions to life at the speed of their imaginations.”
Returning to Photoshop's latest Generative Fill tool, Adobe is making a big deal out of it because it won't just add or enhance/extend your image and give you something with elements that look out of place. The first step it will take is examining the picture and various aspects of it, such as the lighting, style of image, and perspective from which the picture is shot. Then, it will use the Generative Fill to transform your image in such a way that the result you are given looks stunning from all angles.

The best thing is that Generative AI is not the only thing that is coming to Adobe Photoshop, users will be able to actually go ahead and use text-based prompts to make their images stand out, such as adding or removing objects, and all of the edits will be made in layers, so you can always have full control over the edits you are making.

Photoshop users will be able to use Generative AI starting today, and it will be available on the desktop app as well as in Firefly beta. Adobe will push the update to the general public later this year. Last but not least, Adobe has also mentioned that all the content generated by Generative Fill will be safe and free for commercial use, and the company will add Content Credentials that will let you have a better understanding of how the image you have was created, in the first place.
