Apple Vision Pro Users Who Specifically Wear Glasses May Have To Pay Up To $600 For Prescription Lenses

Prior to the official Apple Vision Pro announcement, there was a rumor doing the rounds claiming that users that wear glasses may have to spend a little extra on prescription lenses , but the exact pricing was not provided until now. The $3,499 price might already be too steep for people who are even remotely interested in getting the AR headset, but those who require prescription lenses may have to pay up to $600 for each pair.
Prescription lenses for the Apple Vision Pro could be priced in the $300-$600 range
Apple revealed that it is in a partnership with Zeiss to make prescription vision correction lenses for users. The California-based giant is not known for charging customers a competitive price for accessories, and Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman believes that those who wear glasses will have to pay a higher sum than $3,499. The reporter states that Zeiss’ prescription lenses can cost between $300 and $600, potentially taking the Vision Pro’s price beyond the $4,000 threshold.
Readers who are livid at the rumored price of the prescription lenses should be reminded that Apple sells a set of Mac Pro wheels for $400, so it should not be surprising to hear that the company may charge a boatload of cash for such an accessory. The other choice is that potential buyers wait for the next version, but is not expected to launch before 2025 . If that was not enough, there is a possibility that depending on the size of your head, you might have to pay more for the AR headset’s larger headband , though pricing on that has yet to be confirmed.

I would guess that the Zeiss prescription lenses for the Vision Pro will be at least $300-600 a pair, unless Apple is eating part of the cost given the already high price of the headset itself.

Gurman also predicted before the Apple Vision Pro’s unveiling that the head-mounted wearable would rely on external battery power. While he was correct in his assessment, he also mentioned that Apple could charge customers extra for separate external battery pucks, assuming wearers want to experience more than two hours of runtime.
The current external battery puck only features a capacity of 6,500mAh , but this decision was likely taken deliberately to reduce the puck’s weight while also creating an opportunity to generate more revenue by charging more for a separate accessory. So far, we only know the rumored pricing of the prescription lenses, and since the Apple Vision Pro is not available to purchase before 2024, there is ample time to learn how much the other add-ons will cost.
